When I think about Martin Luther King Jr. the thing that resonates most with me was his message of love not hate. Today the term Love is one that seems to be thrown around so loosely these day. People love their family. They love their friends. They love their food. They love their pets. They love their cars. They love certain musicians. I could go on and on but I hope you get my point.
However, but the greatest test of love is being able to love those who aren’t always nice to us. Real love is being able to understand that people do make mistakes. True love is having a willingness and openness to forgive. So many of us are so uptight about things that have happened to us so long ago, that our hearts have been frozen.
Why not take the time today to thaw them out? If for nothing else, but for God. Who else would give their ONLY son to come to earth so that we may even have a chance to have eternal life (John 3:16). God didn’t have to do it. But he loved us just that much. And we should want to be obedient. His first commandment for new testament christians are to love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind. And the second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27). If you truly love, you will do as he commands.
And what a wonderful world we’d live in, if we could just learn to do those 2 commandments! So come on show your real (Agape) love for God! In the end, it’s all that really matter and ALL that we really need!
I love you all!
